Network Engineer

Salary: £66,000 – £78,000 per year

My client is building an ambitious IoT product-set to sit alongside their existing Voice+Data and Mobile Broadband solutions.

To achieve this growth they are seeking to extend the engineering team and bring on board an experienced network engineer who can support the growth of the IoT business. This would involve implementing, managing, and maintaining the network infrastructure which supports its MVNO network and network integrations with other MNOs that provide services to customers.

Main Responsibilities

• Configuring and installing various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, QoS etc.)
• Understand technical requirements presented by a service provider and work with line manager to design and implement a network architecture that is suitable
• Maximise network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades, and collaborating stakeholders to communicate service issues
• Working with third-party providers (i.e., ISP’s/datacentres) to keep the networks running efficiently
• Monitoring network performance in order to provide guidance and engineering expertise for capacity planning and upgrades
• Bringing new IoT customers on board with design and implementation of VPN solutions to facilitate inter-connections

• Managing WANs and LANs
• Routing, Switching & Firewalls (Cisco, SonicWALL, HP, Firepower’s)
• Cisco iOS
• Fibre optics, SFP and SFP+
• BGP, VLANs, VRFs, Ethernet, connectivity, TCP/IP, Firewalls, Routed VPNs, Policy VPNs, Policy Based Routing, DNS
• Telecoms – SCTP, SS7, Radius, Sigtran & Diameter
• Working within a datacentre environment
• CCNP Switching and Routing preferred
