National Sales Manager

In order to sustain their growth and expansion plans our Client is looking to recruit a high performing National Sales Manager, who will report into the Managing Director and be responsible for a Sales Team of 20 with 4 Direct and 16 indirect reports.

This team is responsible for sales into a customer base that includes CEF, Edmundson / Electric Centre, Rexel Senate, Grafton Group, Troy as well as members of the ANEW, THS, AWEBB, MIDA and AIEW Buying Groups plus Builders Merchants and Independent Accounts with a range of over 4000 products that includes Hand Tools, Power Tool Accessories, PPE and Storage.

As well as motivating the team, improving selling skills and managing a number of Key Accounts the successful applicant will also be expected to improve the efficiency of the team through the application of new technology and new methodologies for call management, journey planning, prospecting, Internet Retailer Management and growth as well as other key sales activities.

This is a field based role and will involve extensive travel visiting Customer, Key Accounts, Buying Groups as well as their Regional Sales Managers, Area Sales Managers and Agents.

The ideal Candidate will have significant experience of managing a field based team in a Retail / Merchant environment, will have experience in the Hardware, Construction or Industrial Supply Field, be conscientious and energetic, active in the field and able to manage new technologies in relation to the sales role.

You must have experience in managing a team which includes recruitment, target setting, managing performance, motivating and empowering as well as identifying training needs, have a high level of poise and presentation skills, ideally with experience of the Hand Tools sector as well as strong negotiation and influencing skills.

On offer for this role is a basic salary of between £60,000’000 and £55,000 dependent on experience, performance related bonus scheme and the standard package items Car, Laptop, Tablet, Mobile and Pension Scheme.

Ideal living locations for this role will include Merseyside, Cheshire, West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, Lancashire, Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Shropshire, West Midlands, Greater Manchester, Flintshire, Denbighshire, Wrexham or Conwy.
