As our Medical Advisor, you will support the Medical Director and wider Medical Affairs team to lead and champion evidence-based decision making and funding, data-driven recommendations. You will also ensure that our members, intermediaries, and the wider business have access to high-quality guidance.

Responsibilities of our Medical Advisor will include:

Leading and providing expert support relating to products, treatment trends, regulatory changes, and scientific activities across a broad range of therapeutic areas

Leading the development of new policy

Being accountable for understanding and regularly updating clinical guidance across a variety of conditions/disease areas

Acting as a subject matter expert to support our wider claims teams and representing Vitality in provider discussions

Identifying opportunities and gaps within current processes/care pathways, and leading strategic initiatives

Identifying, analysing, recommending, and implementing changes to processes and procedures where these may have or cause a risk to the claims fund

Collaborating with Compliance, Risk and QA departments

Reviewing, obtaining, and providing medical, clinical, and scientific input on content across the business including, but not limited to marketing and promotional activities

Leading with a customer-focused mindset, supporting the delivery of new technology implementation and automation initiatives within claims, underwriting, and other business areas as required.

Leading continuous learning and development initiatives across the team, including calibration meetings and lunch & learn sessions.

Preparing and supporting delivery of subject-specific clinical updates and training in areas of claims, underwriting, and other business areas as required.

What we’re looking for in our Medical Advisor:

A healthcare or life sciences qualification – or very strong work experience in the absence of this

Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to influence decisions within the team and across the wider business. 

The ability to work with ambiguity, understand critical appraisal inside and out, have strong project and time management, comfortably manage multiple projects/deliverables at any one time, and excel working in a rapidly changing landscape.
