Salary: £36,000 – £42,000 per year

Here’s a superb opportunity for an individual looking to join the world’s number one in Factory Automation. This is a full time position in which you will be responsible for the following:

THE ROLE

• Mechanical fitting, machining, fabrication and assembly work involved in the manufacture, assembly, testing, commissioning and installation of systems & machines.

• Electrical fitting & assembly work.

• Supervise and assist with the manufacture of systems and parts of systems as required.

• Supervise and assist with the installation of systems on customer sites.

• Ensure Health & Safety requirements are met and adhered to by all persons at all times whilst in the workshop area and on customer sites.

• Assist with other health & safety aspects of the workshop area.

• Facilities maintenance.

• Assisting with equipment and building maintenance as required from time to time.

• Assist with the procurement of bought out components for systems and equipment.

• Maintain the workshop area in a clean & tidy manner

• Assist with the quality control of equipment & systems

• Maintain stock levels of consumable parts.

• Notification of arrival of goods relevant to personnel.

• Fork lift truck driving.

• Promote team work within all departments.

SKILLS DESIRED

• Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings.

• Mechanical fitting including proficiency in use of hand tools, hand held power tools,

• Basic machining including turning, milling, drilling, grinding.

• Fabrication including Mig, Tig and gas welding, plasma cutting, use of guillotine, bender, band saw, cut-off saw, grinder, linisher etc.

• Mechanical installation of capital equipment including marking out, siting and levelling, floor drilling and fixing down, assembly etc.

• Maintenance, troubleshooting and fault finding of mechanical equipment.

• Use of lifting and mechanical handling equipment including pallet truck, fork lift truck, overhead crane, machine skates, A frames, block and tackle, jacks etc.

• Use of access equipment such as step ladders, ladders, scaffold platforms, MEWPs etc.

• Familiarity with health and safety and environmental aspects of all of the above.

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience

• Experience in relevant industries and skills as listed above and below.

• Working away from home from time to time (or understanding of and willingness to do so).

EXPERIENCE IN ANY OF THE FOLLOWING INDUSTRIES

• Automation

• Machine Tool

• Automotive.

• Food.

• Pharmaceutical.

• Building Materials.

• Aerospace.

• Chemical.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Practical, hands-on apprenticeship in a mechanically biased engineering role.

• Minimum of City and Guilds, B-Tec or NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a relevant mechanical discipline or combination thereof (i.e. engineering maintenance, manufacturing engineering, fabrication and welding).

• Health and safety and environmental related qualifications (i.e. Passport to safety, working at height, PASMA, IPAF, Fork Lift truck, Lifting and Slinging (crane) etc.).
