Mechanical Design Engineer / Draughtsperson

My client is the UK’s leading manufacturer of furnaces & ovens for the laboratory and process markets. Our products enjoy a global reputation for quality & performance with more than 70% of sales derived from Export markets. Design and manufacturing take place at our purpose built facility on the outskirts of Sheffield.

A vacancy now exists for a MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER / DRAUGHTSPERSON based at their facility in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.

Successful applicants will work within a small team of committed and multi-disciplined engineers, responsible for the design development and support of special bespoke products, all of which have to conform to European directives and the appropriate harmonised standards.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

* Ideally qualified to Degree level in a relevant Engineering / Design subject
* You will have at least 5 years’ experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer / Draughtsman
* Furnace or oven design experience would be an advantage though not essential as training will be given.
* Background of designing within an Engineering / Manufacturing / Technical environment
* Extensive Solid Works / Solid Edge 2D & 3D experience.
* With a systematic approach to problem solving
* Be capable of working both in a team and without excessive supervision.
* The ability to use initiative is essential.
* Experience of mechanical engineering is necessary
* Good knowledge of mechanisms, gearing, basic pneumatics
* With the ability to perform basic calculations is required.
