Mechanical Design Engineer

Salary: £42,000 – £54,000 per year

My client is an engineering consulting services company, providing turnkey design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of a wide range of solutions to the mining, refinery and chemical processing industries. Due to increased workload they now have a vacancy for a mechanical design engineer to join their small but specialist team.

The role will encompass the full spectrum of mechanical and project design engineering:

* Initial calculations to enable mechanical design to progress

* Concept through to detailed design of process plant for example; furnaces, material handling, gas handling equipment.

* Document all stages of design process.

* Create Quality and Technical Documentation to be released with Process Plant

* Procurement and supplier management

* Technical customer liaison and post-sales support.

* Supervision of plant installation and commissioning.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

* 5 years’ experience as a mechanical design engineer

* HNC Mechanical Engineering min. BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering preferred.

* Excellent knowledge of 2D and 3D parametric modelling. AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Vault.

* Technical documentation. Initial calculations through to design decision documentation, detailed 2D drawings, operations and maintenance manuals.

* Ability to deal directly with suppliers and clients.

Experience of:

* Hydraulics

* Heavy industrial plant

* Moving/automated plant

Any exposure to thermal applications would be a bonus.
