Salary: £26,000 per year

An opportunity has arisen for an individual to join the Marketing and Events team as a Marketing and Events Assistant.

Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Events, you will assist the team with a range of administration tasks, be involved in a variety of campaigns, offer pro-active support, including scheduling social media posts, data input, building email campaigns and basic art working. Your role will include organising and managing small-scale events, as well as supporting the wider team with all other events, to ensure successful and profitable events in accordance with business objectives. You will possess excellent planning, organisational and communication skills (both written and verbal), and be able to demonstrate attention to detail, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn and develop. Regular attendance at a variety of Chamber events across Greater Birmingham will be necessary as part of the role, including early morning events and evening events with time in lieu offered for additional hours worked. Therefore, a flexible and adaptable attitude is essential.

 Key responsibilities will include:

• Team administration – to provide department support on a variety of regular and ad-hoc admin tasks as requested by team members.

• Manage small-scale events – to fully support the marketing and events team in the delivery of the Chamber events calendar. This includes full operational responsibility for some small-scale events, with delivery predominantly being face-to-face and occasionally online.

• Campaign support – to be a pro-active support and resource within a busy marketing and events department, always looking to learn and get involved with a variety of campaigns, including managing online member requests such as offers or blogs submitted to the website, building email campaigns and basic art working. Working with the other Marketing and Events Assistant, you will have day-to-day responsibility for creating social media graphics and scheduling social media posts on behalf of other team members.

• Chamber division support – to support key divisions on a variety of administrative and event tasks as required. Working with the other Marketing and Events Assistant, this may include creating and delivering a full and varied events programme, member liaison, internal liaison with the membership team, and attending external events to promote the network.

Essential Skills:

• Educated to degree level in a marketing or business-related subject or a minimum of two years’ recent experience in a marketing role

• Experience of working in a customer-focused environment

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Good planning, organisation, and interpersonal skills • Competent user of Microsoft Office applications and other system applications

• Ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision or as part of a team • Flexible attitude to working hours as some events may require early morning and evening/weekend working

• Ability to change and adapt to different business and event demands created by handling multiple events at the same time The ideal candidate would have experience in, or willingness to learn, creative art working skills and a working knowledge of a range of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn).

 A full current driving license would be advantageous.
