Our client based near Skipton is recruiting for an experienced Section Leader in Bio-polymers. This is a permanent full time position working 39 hours per week on the standard day shift. This role will be responsible for leading & co-ordinating resources and activity within the Biopolymers Department to ensure safety, quality and output targets are met.
Job Role:
• Accountable for the management of materials, machines and manpower to ensure efficient operation, including meeting departmental manufacturing targets (production achievement), and financial targets (expense to volume, material usage/Yield metrics & VIP’s).
• Implements and promotes best practises in their area. Competently uses the systems that significantly improve business operation (SAP, Livelink, NCR, CAPA). Provides support to projects and drives initiatives per direction of Manufacturing Manager.
• Demonstrates sound technical and product knowledge
• Promotes Continuous Improvement and drives related LEAN projects to achieve both quick wins and longer term process improvements. Supports and promotes QIC initiatives. Actively encourages others to try new ideas/take appropriate risks; treats mistakes as learning experiences. Demonstrates ability to be a change agent.
• Demonstrates the ability to lead inspire and motivate direct reports and team members. Creates development opportunities for entire team generating a multi-skilled workforce.
• Supports and promotes HR policies and activities (attendance policy, code of conduct policy, discipline and performance policy and performance and development reviews).
• Holds direct reports and team members responsible for meeting Quality, GMP/CME, Safety and Environmental regulations/standards. Provides regular feedback on achievement to the team and upper management. Champions safe working practices.
Ideal Criteria:
• Degree educated (life sciences/chemistry/bioscience) or equivalent
• It is essential to have proven supervisory experience working within a highly regulated environment, together with a working knowledge and appreciation of Lean/CI, Manufacturing Best Practice, ISO quality standards and H&S regulations. You must have good computer skills. Experience in a similar role would be advantageous.
• The successful applicant must be well organised, self motivated and have excellent communication and relationship building skills. You will be confident and capable of leading visitors and auditors around the facility. You will lead by example, promoting pride and ownership within your team and cross-functionally.
• Appropriate documentation and escalation of quality events via QEL & Deviation systems (and subsequent investigation work and creation and management of CAPA plans in line with Section Leader role).
• Correct product disposition and segregation and quarantine of suspect/defective product.
