Salary: £24 – £30 per hour
A Borders-based client is urgently looking for an experienced and motivated Maintenance Officer to join them. The successful applicant will be working as part of a community team, carrying out inspections, specifying work, arranging external contractors as required, and conducting post-inspections to ensure customer satisfaction and value for money.
The responsibilities for this role are:
* To ensure compliance with all statutory and other legislative requirements, including health and safety legislation.
* To assist with ensuring compliance on all works undertaken, and to ensure that risk assessments and method statements are in place to provide robust safe systems of work.
* To inspect properties and communal areas within the designated area, with key responsibility for specifying works using the schedule of rates.
* To balance customer expectations with budget constraints, ensuring work quality standards are met, procurement requirements are followed and accurate records maintained
* To ensure that works are delivered on time, to specified standards and within budget.
* To establish, maintain and operate a detailed housing stock condition database which will drive the association’s investment priorities and programmes.
* To develop and maintain strong links with the communities and develop an understanding of the differing community needs and respond accordingly.
To be selected for this role, you must hold an HNC/D or equivalent in Building (or an equivalent discipline) and must have accumulated five years of experience in a Construction or Property environment in order to have the required knowledge and understanding of housing improvement and maintenance. You must have experience of carrying out voids inspections and specifying works using SORs, in addition to being aware of relevant legislation applicable to residential dwellings in Scotland (e.g. Gas Safety, Asbestos Awareness, Legionella). You will possess excellent IT skills, as well as the ability to analyse plans, specifications, technical schedules and contracts. You must also be able to compile and understand financial information, and demonstrate a strong commitment to customer service and best value.
As this role requires travel, you must possess a full, clean driving licence and have access to your own vehicle.
