Machinist

We are recruiting on behalf of our client who is a leading engineering firm in South Wales, and are looking for Time Served Machinists.

Machinist positions available to operate the following group of machines:

* CNC
* Manual Machines as follows: milling, turning / boring – vertical and horizontal.

The Machinists will be working within a team undertaking machining of various industrial component parts in a workshop environment. The positions demand an understanding of manual machine operation, cutting tool theory, inspection, grinding operations, and work piece material properties.

Essential:

* candidates MUST be time served, having completed a recognised indentured apprenticeship
* have proven experience in the manual operation of lathes, boring, grinding and milling machines
* must be able to understand engineering drawings in order to machine items to required tolerances, with the ability to check and measure own work

Desirable:

* ability to use electrically operate, overhead cranes to sling, rig and move material and component parts, fork truck licence would also be advantages
* experienced CNC machinist
* able to read engineering drawings
* set up work pieces including, program machine, select tooling, machine work piece, inspect work piece

Candidates must demonstrate safe working practices at all times as the company operates a zero compromise towards safety.

Candidates must also be prepared to work shifts days / afternoons if required.

All positions are subject to a successful interview / trades test before commencing work. The type of contract is a term contract with the prospect of long term employment for the right candidates. Permanent opportunities may also be available.
