Role: Laboratory Operations Technician
Location: Huddersfield
Salary: £29,400 – £33,600+ excellent company benefits
Hours: Regular Days Monday-Friday

THE ROLE
You successful Laboratory Operations Technician will be using electronic analysis equipment to analyse strain data from test facilities, setting up special test turbochargers, using specialist test rigs to perform frequency surveys and the general administration and record keeping relating to the test carried out.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
You will be responsible for the following:

-Carry out all standard tests with minimal supervision
-Run test set up (cell/beds/rigs) in the department according to establishment routines.
-Follow and fulfil the requirements of the department administrative system such as logbooks time sheets stores system etc.
-Work to work request with the guidance of local supervision
-Liaise with other departments as instructed by supervision on matters to the job in hand, in order to obtain further information and acquire parts
-Write orders and communicate with the relevant individual/department to progress them with outside agencies
-Will work off site with supervision provided locally or as part of a team

You should have experience of:

-working with engineering and technician groups, applying resource and managing priority conflicts appropriately to ensure that the test cells are conducted against required timing.
-Has a broad understanding of turbocharger function and engineering testing.
-Basic keyboard skills and PC skills are needed for the job and some knowledge of spread sheets would be an advantage.
-Ability to work under the constraints of fine work with excellent attention to detail.
-A familiarity and interest in diesel engines and diagnostics is an advantage.

Required Qualifications:

-HNC or equivalent in an engineering discipline is preferable
-Has a broad understanding of turbocharger function and engineering testing
-On/off the job training will be given to successful candidate joining the department
-Knowledge of Health and Safety and Design rules and legislation and techniques for ensuring that these requirements are met (e.g. risk assessment)
