Laboratory Assistant

Global Chemical Manufacturer in Colchester seeks a self-motivated Laboratory Assistant / Laboratory Technician to ensure the highest quality products are delivered.

Salary: £26,000per yeardependent on experience

BENEFITS: 25 days Holiday + 8 statutory days + pension + healthcare.

REQUIREMENTS – Laboratory Assistant / Laboratory Technician

Following a restructure of the department we are looking for a driven Laboratory Assistant / Technician to manage the day to day Quality control of our Laboratory. This plays an essential role in the support of our manufacturing operation and continued sales to new & existing clients.

WE ARE INTERESTED IF YOU:

* Have previous experience working within a technical laboratory environment. For example, adhesives, scientific, food, resins (polyester, epoxy), chemicals, paints, beverages, coatings or pharmaceutical.
* Are educated to A ‘level/ HND/ HNC (preferably but not essentially in a chemical or biological discipline) or qualified by experience.
* Can work effectively on your own projects whilst supporting a team.
* Communicate effectively across multiple functions both verbally and written.
* Are naturally analytical with a strong attention to detail.
* Demonstrate excellent working knowledge of a variety of IT Packages (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
* Are interested in working for a growing business, where personal and career development are critical to your next career move.
Although this role is advertised as a Laboratory Assistant you may also have held any of the following roles: Lab Technician, Quality Chemical Assistant, Laboratory Analyst, Chemist, or a Quality Control Assistant.

JOB SPECIFICATION – Laboratory Assistant / Laboratory Technician

Reporting to the Department Head you will:

* Support the day to day function of a laboratory environment within a manufacturer.
* Guarantee all raw material deliveries are accurately labelled and recorded onto the LMS.
* Inspect all raw materials ensuring customer specifications and quality standards are adhered to.
* Regularly sample test competitors` products and report findings.
* Despatch samples to clients and confirm receipt.
* Investigate & manage any non-conformity through root cause analysis.
* Escalate any concerns that may negatively effective the business.
* Responsible for ensuring stock rotation is in line with SOPs
