Junior Technician for Precision Engineering & Test

Junior Mechanical Technician to help with the production and manufacture of precision engineering for growing business. The client produce high precision, low volume products which require a Technician with a great ideal for detail and practical skills. Some proven commercial experience essential. Apprenticeship trained or similar would suit the position well.

Responsibilities include:

* In a small team be required to assist with precision engineering builds & tests
* Assist in setting up and building a test environment (rigs, test beds, test cells etc.)
* Where necessary repairing, maintaining, aligning, overhauling of product
* Use of instrumentation (e.g. pressure, temperature & other data acquisition, multimeters, Snap-On diagnostics)
* Overseeing computers hooked up to the product – e.g. control systems, logging, and management systems. So must be IT proficient!
* Provide technical assistance to other mechanics where necessary.
* Perform other tasks as assigned such as logging and documentation

Requirements:

* City & Guilds NVQ, HNC, HND, BTEC, apprenticeship or similar (in subjects such as Engineering, Mechanics, Electronics / Electrical, Control Systems, PLC)
* Ability to use a wide variety of hand tools
* Working knowledge of the mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and associated components
* IT proficient – PC based management systems, loggers and analysers
* Use of digital equipment. For example:

– Multimeters & Analysers
– Micrometers
– Diagnostic & Test Tools
– electronics and electrical using digital multimeter with data logging
– digital oscilloscope

* Ability to read and interpret symbols, layout sheets, diagrams, schematics, technical orders, and manufacturer’s specifications
* Ability to comply with all established methods, quality standards, and time schedules applicable to this position

The Junior Technician will have a good capacity to learn & be happy to take on instruction. They will receive excellent support to ensure they move up to a fully-fledged Technician role!
