Technical Support Engineer – Bracknell – £28 – 32k + Benefits
Our client is an innovative market leader within the field of designing and manufacturing computerised biometric and electronic security systems. To further their aim in delivering products and services of the highest quality they are looking to enhance their team by recruiting an experienced Technical Support Engineer to join their team in Bracknell. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional and committed Technical Support Engineer, with a combination of hardware and software skills, to develop a career within a dynamic company in an exciting high tech industry. The successful candidate will cover the Southern region primarily, at times however you will need to provide cover for absence in other parts of the country, this may require significant travelling therefore to be considered for this role you need to have a full UK driving licence.
Your role will include:
• Undertaking a mixture of routine mechanical maintenance to ensure hardware is working correctly, fixing or updating equipment as appropriate.
• Identifying faults by investigating the operating system, and keeping accurate logs.
• Responding to reported faults and performing break/fix activities when errors or faults occur.
• Liaising with customers on site or remotely, ensuring key members of the team are communicated with and appropriate escalation is undertaken when necessary.
• Rolling out and installing new systems and supporting exhibitions as required
• Keeping accurate records of faults attended, materials used, tools required and mileage.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
• Excellent communication skills, able to communicate technical information clearly
• At least 3 years demonstrable experience working in IT Support with Windows Operating Systems
• Ability to undertake basic diagnostics and troubleshoot errors
• Ability to support remote systems would be advantageous.
• Willing and able to be hands with and diagnosing hardware faults
• High level of organisation and accuracy with your work
• Basic knowledge of networking, cabling, electromechanical equipment is advantageous
• Excellent interpersonal skills comfortable working both in an office and at customer premises
Due to the nature of this role security clearance is an essential part of this role and will be obtained for you by our client if you do not have this already. Additionally flexibility with your work is essential, your role will be varied and split between working in the office and in the field and out of hours cover is required on a rota basis of 1 week in 4, the successful candidate will need to be available from Monday to Sunday during this time.
