IT Infrastructure Engineer

Role: Infrastructure Engineer
Location: County Antrim
Salary: £30,000 – £42,000(Dependent Upon Exp/Quals)

My client, an innovative international technology company, with offices in County Antrim, are on the lookout for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer.

The Role:

The Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of IT across all UK sites. This encompasses all things from IT strategy for future developments through to user support. They will facilitate the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, integrity and optimization of all IT hardware, software and communication systems.

Responsibilities:

• Ensuring that the company’s servers and network equipment are maintained in line with best practice to ensure that maximum use can be made of the resources at all times
• Ensuring that the company’s systems, infrastructure and data are secure and protected
• Deployment and administration of physical and virtual IT infrastructures.
• Configuration and management of the Active Directory
• Keep up to date on latest industry developments and changes and make recommendations to IT management
• Analyse and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion
• Provide end user training where required.
• Improve level of IT skills within the organisations being supported
• Build relationship with departmental managers to ensure IT supports their business processes
• Use a ‘hands-on’ approach in providing technical guidance and resolution of any outstanding problems

The Person:

You will possess a Degree in an IT related subject or have equivalent commercial experience. You will be an innovative individual with excellent technical experience and motivation. Most important is an enthusiasm for new technologies, an ability to learn quickly and a desire to contribute in a fast moving, innovative team environment. Must be eligible for UK SC Clearance.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

• IT Desktop Support in a manufacturing environment.
• Worked in a multisite company and supporting users remotely.
• Understanding of Windows Client Operating Systems
• Proven troubleshooting ability
• Understanding of TCPIP (routing, subnets DHCP)
• Understanding of the Microsoft Application Stack
• Experience Maintaining and Troubleshooting Windows Server 2008 and 2012
• Understanding of Email technologies (smtp fundamentals, email routing, email security, DNS requirements etc.)
• Experience with Managing and Supporting Exchange 2010/2013
• Experience with Backup technologies (ideally including Backup exec).
• Understanding of Firewall Concepts and Network Security.
• Understanding of Microsoft Security, specifically DACLS / File System Security and an understanding of Authentication and Kerberos within a Microsoft environment.

Desirable:

• Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)
• CCNA – or show equivalent Cisco skills, specifically with switch configuration.
• Experience and or qualifications for a specific firewall. E.g. Cisco ASA, Watchguard, Fortinet etc.
• Deployment, support and administration of either / or Microsoft Hyper V or VMware
• Experience supporting Microsoft SQL Server
• Experience with automatic software deployment technology, such as WDS or SCCM or with imaging tools
• Basic Linux admin skills
• Experience to telephony, specifically with administering VOIP systems
• Windows scripting skills
