Our privately owned client (t/o c£20m) has doubled in size over the past five years. Customers are drawn from a variety of sectors which include transport, oil and gas, utilities and food and beverages. With UK manufacturing backed by up by a well formulated product development programme demand is truly global, indeed, exports account for over 50% of revenue and represent the biggest potential for future growth.
The export sales function is currently under-resourced and this new appointment, reporting to the Sales and Marketing Director, is part of a plan to increase and up-skill within the vitally important commercial team.
The Role
The development of profitable new business in key strategic markets through relationship building with end users and development of the distributor channel.
Support existing distributors and customers, providing technical assistance where required.
Develop collaborative relationships with the design and engineering centres of major customers.
Contribute to shaping the commercial strategy as a key member of the team and provide leadership to office based export sales personnel.
The Candidate
Graduate calibre, ideally engineering oriented, who can demonstrate a successful track record in growing export sales for a UK based manufacturer of industrial products that could be described as low tech, high volume, bespoke or standard.
Experience of selling to at least one of the named sectors and through the distributor channel in tandem with end users.
Pro-active, can-do attitude. First class communicator.
Confident, with gravitas and impact.
Second European language would be an advantage.
