An excellent opportunity has arisen to join a world leading global organisation, our client Unilever are currently looking for a Innovation Process Technologist based at Unilever’s manufacturing facility in Seacroft, Leeds. This is a 12 month role, working Monday to Friday, paying £30,828 per annum, pro rata. We are seeking the successful applicant to start ASAP!

BACKGROUND
As the largest producer of Deodorants in Unilever’s global network, the Leeds SU is key to supporting this ambition, much of which will be achieved through Right First Time implementation of Innovation. The Innovation Process Leader role is important to ensuring the success of the SU Innovation Programme.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION/ KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of Innovation Process Leader in the Leeds SU. Reporting to the Innovation Manager, the SU Innovation Process Leader will support the delivery of the process elements of the SU Innovation agenda, working alongside Category R&D and SU Operations to ensure OTIF delivery of SU capability (current and future) for all new product and process innovations. This includes:

*Leading all Process trials for forthcoming innovation, capability and blue funnel projects and lead ProMPT approver for site.
*Working alongside Innovation coordinators to support SU Innovation trials on new variants/hardware.
*Communication of SU capability information for use by project teams and providing process technical input into Global, European and SU Project Teams and Leeds SU Factory.
*Leading all PHA (Preliminary Hazard Assessment), HAZOP (Hazard & Operability) and SIMAS (Safety in Manufacturing & Supply) work on behalf of the SU Innovation Team.
*Interfacing with Unilever Engineering to ensure feasibility, FEED studies, capital proposals and projects are completed to ensure project delivery to network timings.
*Representing the SU to other Unilever work streams for process production and ‘process to filler’ capability. Areas covered:-
1)New raw materials handling in process, tank farm and warehouse (manual handling, flammability, storage requirements, delivery formats, safety)
2)Requirements for new equipment or ways of working.
3)Suitability of process plant(s) for making new formulation, batch cycle time impact, intermediate storage, transferring to lines, and washouts/changeover impact.
*Responsible for the process input to the EPM and EEM procedures, ensuring Design for Manufacture principles are followed.
*Establishing strong relationships with the SU Quality team and challenge ways of working to improve the process quality agenda. Lead process flow diagram specification approver for the site, ensuring all specifications are in place for OTIF (On Time in Full) for innovation projects, and driving forward improvements to process specifications.
*Communication of all process innovation to process cell, including training and monitoring/analysis of first productions.
*Leeds SU formulation complexity mapping (EU and XRS) and communication of impact to category and R&D teams as well as SU logistics.
*Site representative at the Deodorant Processing Community of Practice.

This is a day based role, but a certain amount of flexibility is required with occasional out-of-hours working due to the nature of the Innovation agenda.

REQUIREMENTS OF ROLE
*Educated to Degree level or equivalent in process engineering.
*Applicants must be passionate about process innovation, new packaging and formulation projects and be open minded to embrace change.
*A highly motivated individual, who is capable of managing and prioritising a challenging workload with minimal supervision.
*Able to demonstrate a detailed awareness of how Aerosol and Roll-ons are manufactured, and have knowledge of the quality issues that can be experienced.
*Strong communication skills.
*Strong working knowledge of Deodorant technology (Aerosol & Roll-on) and ability to recall a complex portfolio.
*Experience in the application of WCM (World Class Manufacturing) problem-solving tools, e.g. PDCA (Plan,Do,Check,Act), FI (Focus Improvement), PM analysis etc. to process engineering/manufacturing issues.
*Working knowledge of EPM (Early Product Management)/EEM (Early Equipment Management) processes, HAZOP and SIMAS systems.
