An Independent Living Advisor / Disability Support Worker is sought to join this not-for-profit independent living organisation in Wembley, North London. The trust works in partnership with Local Authorities to provide information and advice to recipients of Community Care funding.

They offer advice, guidance and practical solutions to enable people with disabilities and older people to live independently in their own homes, to achieve their goals in life and to help them play an active part in their community.

They are now seeking an Independent Living Advisor / Disability Support Worker to hold a caseload; advising and supporting service users in all aspects of managing their care packages.

The Independent Living Advisor / Disability Support Worker will be responsible for the following:
– Supporting and advising service users in all aspects of independent living including recruitment, payroll and financial advice
– Providing support to line management and working within a team to fulfil the organisations contract with the council
– Maintaining accurate records of all communication with service users and producing detailed reports when required

The ideal Independent Living Advisor / Disability Support Worker will possess the following skills and experience:
– Previous experience of working with disabled people
– Awareness of social care issues and disability legislation
– A good level of education, to a minimum of GCSE standard
– Previous experience of providing information and support to other people
– Excellent communication skills

As an Independent Living Advisor, you will be community based and will be visiting Independent Living Service Users in their own homes. It’s a challenging role, which offers great rewards.
