Head of Information Systems Strategy
3-6 Month Contract – to start immediately
£700 – £950/day
Based in Milton Keynes

You will need:
•Experienced in leading IT Strategy and/or Enterprise Architecture Functions managing senior level technology experts that have delivered tangible business value.
•Possesses a deep understanding of the information systems industry, emerging technologies and the implications for the wider business environment.
•Experienced in leading the formulation and application of information systems strategies.
•Has extensive experience of managing business, information, application and technology architecture design across an enterprise.
• A strong Strategic and Enterprise Architecture background – A chartered IT professional.
• Senior level of stakeholder/partner management both internal and external, including Sponsors
• Must have worked for large complex organisations previously, have managed investment portfolios with strong financial planning.
• Governance and continuous improvement in background
• Operational Management experience also required as this will be a part of the role.
• TOGAF, ITIL, Prince2, MSP
• Experience of leading the formulation and application of information systems strategies.
• Deep understanding of information systems industry, emerging technologies and the implications for the wider business environment.
• Managed senior level technology experts that have delivered tangible business value.
• Understands, explains and ability to present complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences at all levels in a persuasive and convincing manner.
• Has a broad and deep knowledge of organisations that use and exploit information systems.
• Demonstrates awareness of developments in the IS industry and in own area(s) of expertise.
• Extensive experience of managing information architecture design at an enterprise level
• Experience of conceiving and leading strategic initiatives through to deployment
• Proven experience in strategic risk identification, assessment and management
• Held senior IT strategy posts in previous organisation.
• Is well known in the industry as a technology leader.
• An understanding of the Rail industry.
The role:
•To provide leadership and direction for the development, management and governance of the Information Systems strategy and associated enterprise architecture in order to support the achievement of objectives as outlined in the corporate business plan.
•Determine strategic information needs, and direct the delivery of an information systems vision, and associated roadmaps required to meet business objectives.
• Take the lead in representing Group in the contribution to Rail Industry business strategies, aligned with a rolling technology strategy.
• Act as the overall design authority for all information systems changes across the business.
• Direct the development of policies, standards and frameworks, which allow the evolution of processes, systems and support functions. Formulate and implement the technical standards required for delivery of Group services including constantly reviewing the shape and service models of Group so that they reflect best practice
• Lead and direct the day to day activities of a team of highly qualified and senior technology capability.
• Undertake enterprise level technology tracking and planning to map solutions to future needs and identify opportunities for innovation.
• Work closely with chosen 3rd supplier partners to capitalise upon technical innovation and technology leadership that could directly benefit the wider rail industry.
• Establish policies and standards within Group to comply with national and EU legislation and regulations on safety and monitor the assessment & acceptance of safety cases for quality related systems.
• Contribute to the Group Leadership Team to help drive strategic vision and direction.
• Work closely with Head of Customer Delivery Services to ensure that function is equipped with the knowledge, processes and content to successfully represent the Group function with their business colleagues as it relates to Information Systems Strategy.
