Head of Finance

Salary: £54,000 – £72,000 per year

RM Recruit are working with a Rugby based charity to assist in the recruitment of a Head of Finance for their team. The number one finance role within the organisation, the position will see you lead an effective financial management service to the charity and to provide sound strategic financial advice to the Board of Trustees, the Chief Executive and other senior stakeholders across a variety of teams.

Your remit will include, but not be limited to:

* Manage and maintain the accounting services across all departments to includes financial accounting, management accounts, forecasting and budgeting

* Ensuring there is a robust system of financial control across the charity

* Maintaining of an appropriate financial policy framework is in place to guide the charities commercial and financial decision making.

* Full contribution to the preparation and roll out of strategic plans

* Preparation of the statutory annual accounts in line with the Charity SORP and management of the annual audit process.

* Development of Key Performance Indicators, monthly forecasting and variance explanations to allow flexible forward planning

* Communications with the Board of Trustees Finance & Audit sub-committee (including quarterly meetings, with reporting)

* Leading on the relationships with contact with bankers, auditors, pension companies and other third party stakeholders

* Monitor changes financial regulation and ensure the relevant continuous improvement of financial systems to guarantee compliance

* Day to day management of the Finance Department so that the team are developed, managed and led.

* File annual returns and accounts with Charity Commission, Companies House and HMRC

* Oversee the production and filing of quarterly and annual returns to regulatory bodies.

Candidates with past charity and/or Not for Profit sector experience would be highly desirable along with a hands on background of using SAGE 50. Experience and knowledge of SORP, restricted funds and Gift Aid would be highly advantageous. Proven acumen of developing productive relationships with Trustees is a key aspect of the role so effective and diplomatic communications skills are a must.
