Health and Safety Advisor
Location: Chippenham
Salary: £42,000 – £54,000+ Company Car & Benefits
Overview:
The Health and Safety Advisor will work with Project teams to ensure the highest standards of Health & Safety are met on site. Provide appropriate information, support, assurance and challenge to Project teams to help achieve Company requirements and drive continual improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
– Assist the Project team with development of plans and process to support delivery of work on rail infrastructure.
– Assist in the development of site inductions for defined work sites, and be on a rota for delivery of inductions to the workforce.
– Suggest methods and aids to promote awareness of injury prevention initiatives.
– Carry out inspections and audits in conjunction with appropriate management to ensure Company, Client and legislative requirements are being met. Where appropriate make recommendations for improvement.
– Assist with the implementation of the Company behavioural based safety programme.
– Assist the Project team with investigation of close call, near miss and other incidents on Project sites.
– Assist the Project team by identifying training needs.
– Assist the Project team in collating information for monthly reporting to the Client and to Company head office.
– Prepare information to assist the Project team in identifying trends and prepare information for use on Project notice boards.
– Be honest in discharging your duties as a health and safety professional.
– Avoid conflicts of interest wherever possible and if one arises promptly take appropriate steps to manage it.
– Ensure you are competent to undertake proposed work. Competence is a combination of knowledge, skills, experience and recognition of the limits of your capabilities. Knowledge can be gained or developed by studying for qualifications, but a qualification, by itself, is not evidence of competence. It must be enhanced by skills and knowledge that you develop through experience. Undertake appropriate continuing professional development and record it in the manner prescribed by IOSH.
– Cooperate fully with IOSH and abide by its Charter, Bylaws and Regulations.
Skills and Qualifications:
– Minimum of 1 year in a Health and Safety position within the rail industry.
– NEBOSH/IOSH certified.
– Knowledge of Health & Safety management system.
– Valid Personal Track Safety card.
– Previous experience with Scope of Project and Project programme.
– Knowledge of supply chain.
