Grounds Maintenance Contract Manager

Salary: £36,000 – £45,000 per year

My privately owned client were formed forty years ago and provide high quality cleaning, window cleaning and ground maintenance services throughout the South east including Surrey, Sussex, Kent, Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex, Hertfordshire and London. Their client base includes Housing Associations, property and FM companies, offices, residential care homes, business parks, industrial estates, private estates, local authorities, surgeries & Health Centres, universities and schools. Their turnover is circa £17m. I am in partnership with them looking for an energetic and committed Contracts Manager to join their dedicated team to oversee prestigious contracts covering the South West London and Surrey (Guildford, Woking, Basingstoke into Twickenham and Croydon). A well-established service delivery team and support structure are in place and KPI’s are being met or exceeded across all contracts.

The purpose of the role is to provide a high quality, value for money service that meets or exceeds their clients and their residents expectations at all times. Quality control, staffing and building strong customer relationships will be key to your success. Through support and guidance (the role holder reports into an Operations Manager) they empower their Contracts Managers to run their teams skilfully and effectively without the need for daily supervision. The role holder will manage seven teams, twenty cleaners, window cleaners and a specialist rubbish removal team.

Key Responsibilities:

* Organise staff under your control including recruitment, training & mentoring.

* Site quality.

* Budgeting / planning.

* Allocating work schedules with due consideration for staff skills, training, qualifications, and experience.

* Maintain Health and Safety Standards on sites.

* Follow quality procedures and highlight opportunities for improvement.

* Comply with environmental legislation/ regulations.

* Ensure economical and efficient use of company resources throughout all activities.

Essential Requirements:

* An excellent client facing manner.

* Experience in a similar role for more than 3 years.

* Well-versed in all grounds maintenance methodologies and equipment.

* Formal Qualifications or Arboriculture knowledge would be an advantage.

* Full UK Driving licence.

* Self-motivation with the ability to use own initiative.

* Excellent communication and administration skills.

* Able to coordinate a team of operatives of different disciplines to achieve the best results.

Working hours are usually 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. However there may be the need for very occasional evening and weekend appointments with residents and/or the client.

The ideal candidate will have previous contract management experience within the FM, Cleaning and/or Grounds Maintenance sector (ideally with housing associations or similar), although a CM or an experienced Supervisor with just grounds experience who is looking for their next career step will be considered. Candidates must be a keen team-players with inspiring leadership qualities and reside within the operational area as mentioned above. You will be an instrumental part of a busy and expanding company.

Salary £36,000 – £45,000 and bonus, quality car/vehicle, laptop & phone, staff pension scheme, flexible working and 28 days annual leave.
