Salary: £30,000 – £33,600 per year

Graduate Metallurgical Technician

A hands-on role within speciality metals

Birmingham – 25-28K

McIver Knight are partnering with a world-leading specialist metals business based in Birmingham, West Mids who currently have a requirement for a Graduate to join their Technical, Quality & Metallurgy department as a Technician.

Reporting to the Technical Manager your role will be to assist him in monitoring, sampling and analysing key parameters on this heavy engineering / process engineering foundry.

You should be:

  • Qualified to Degree level or above in a STEM subject (Sciences, Technology, Engineering, Maths)
  • Willing to get hands-on and your hands dirty (as this is an active manufacturing site)
  • Able to communicate well with people at all levels and have superb attention to detail.
  • Keen, eager and willing to take the initiative wherever possible

You will:

  • Take samples from metal to analyse the success of refinery processes
  • Take water samples and check chemical processes
  • Sample process gasses and produce reports
  • Conduct manual / physical gauge checks across site
  • Check dimensional tolerances
  • Conduct Process monitoring – looking at trends and machine performance
  • Chemical property sampling & analysis
  • Report Performance/results – (admin)
  • Purchase and control department consumables
  • Organise and co-ordinate instrument and machine maintenance / service.
