General Manager

Our client a large commercial vehicle company are recruiting for a General Manager in North West London. They are an award winning business who offer a great working environment, a competitive salary and ongoing development and progression. I am looking for experienced individuals who boast excellent customer service management skills along with workshop management experience.

The role:
• You will effectively manage the maintenance of the vehicles to cause lower levels of downtime

• Provide advice and support to customers to assist them in safe and cost effective operation of vehicles
• Ensure all maintenance and MOT standards are met through audits and quality inspections and create a good culture where quality comes first which will decrease the number of units coming back.
• Review vehicles out of service for more than 3 days and action as required.
• Conducting location safety inspections
• Monthly briefings to review all safety matters
• You will be responsible for ensuring the security of site and vehicles in line with company policies
• Manage the use and costs of consumables, third party sub-contractors and all external expenditure
• Financial expenditure in line with company limits

Candidate Experience:
• You will have practical experience gained in a customer service/sales role within a commercial vehicle environment
• A solid amount of experience at managerial level in a commercial vehicle / engineering workshop environment
• A good background managing employees
• A proven record of P&L responsibility

Candidate Essentials:
• formal vehicle maintenance qualification (ideally from a Heavy Goods Background)
• Excellent numeracy, literacy and verbal communication
• Computer literate ideally with some experience of vehicle maintenance systems
• MS Word, MS Excel
• Full UK Driving License – Ideally Class 1 or 2
