General Maintenance Operative

AS&T are currently recruiting a Senior Operator / Maintenance Person for our client based in the S9 area of Sheffield. Our client is 1 of the UK’s leading scrap metal recyclers & they are looking for an experienced operator from a similar environment. The work often takes place outdoors, in all weather conditions & can be physically demanding with lots of bending and lifting, conditions are also dirty and noisy.

IMMEDIATE START FOR RIGHT CANDIDATE

Hours:

2:00pm – 10:00pm

4:00pm – 12:00pm

Requirements:

·Basic mechanical knowledge (essential)

·Basic electrical knowledge (essential)

·Basic engineering knowledge (desirable)

·Experience working within a scrap/recycling environment (desirable)

·Computer literate (essential)

The ideal candidate should possess the following attributes:

·High level of initiative as the job will require you at times to find fault on plant machinery.

·Successful candidate should be a good communicator as you will be working in a close team.

·Ability to learn & develop new skills

·Must be able to use computer systems including touch screen devices

·Knowledge of conveyor belts systems would be an advantage

·Excellent work ethic

Additional qualities:

·Reasonable fitness-levels and stamina

·The ability to work as part of a team

·Confidence in operating machinery

·Awareness of health and safety.

PPE:

You would need to wear protective clothing such as safety boots, goggles, a helmet and gloves at all times.

Salary:

£26,000 per year – £26,000 per year depending on contract / this is a starting rate & could possibly increase for the right person once you have proven yourself as a reliable & strong working team member.
