European Facilities HSE Manager and Global Safety Coordinator – Home based – to £80k plus package and bonus. ( could look at interim )
A leading Facilities Management Service Provider is urgently seeking and experienced Facilities HSE Manager who has European client account experience. This role can be based from home but you will be expected to travel to each site across Europe to get to know them. Travel should then reduce after the initial burst. Experience of Manufacturing sites is a huge advantage.
1. Purpose of the Job
Health, Safety & Environment
▪ Lead and provide HSE oversight for Europe and coordinate Global strategic leadership covering health, safety, and environment across the account.
▪ To co-ordinate, as the single source of accountability for Europe, country / regional HSE staff with global subject matter coordination. Advise the operational teams working on the account in accordance with company procedures and agreed objectives
▪ Act as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) and HSE representative to the Global client team
▪ Proactively work with all the regions as part of the account’s senior leadership team.
▪ Develop, own & deploy a European HSE strategy across all sites for the account in co-ordination with Group Health and Safety, Regional HSE and client HSE representatives.
▪ Support and drive key activities associated to the HSE strategy.
• Characteristics
• This is a senior role within the account organization, with oversight from senior executives. The role is focused on supporting HSE activities, however any other skills (e.g., finance, project management, people management, sustainability) that the individual may have will be expected to be utilized.

• International and/or multi country/regional experience – management of complexities, divergent interests, cultured in different geographies

Context and main issues
• Provide oversight, accountability, and management of all HSE related matters in Europe and coordinate the global HSE program.
• Develop and implement a HSE improvement plan for the account.
▪ Deliver the contract with the client, including therefore any new sites and services.
▪ Establish network and support colleagues providing services to the client globally.
▪ Act as Global HSE SPOC for the client.
▪ Work in close collaboration with client global HSE head and relevant senior client HSE regional leads.
▪ Provide support and management expertise to colleagues as we look for further opportunities with the client
▪ Must be autonomous, proactive, and self-motivated to ensure targets and deadlines are achieved. This is a busy role and prioritization of tasks across a global geography is essential.

Health, Safety & Environment
▪ Ensure the management of related activities and oversee compliance aspects of operational activities carried out for the client
▪ Develop and lead a step change in HSE culture through an effective behavioural engagement program.
▪ Oversight and direction of subcontractor HSE compliance (including assessment, governance, support).
▪ Lead the management, development, and continuous improvement of the HSE policies, processes, and management systems.
▪ Work with client teams to investigate root-causes and implement corrective actions where HSE deficiencies are discovered. Influence and coach Senior Management to ensure robust HSE systems are in place. Act as the single point of contract.
▪ Present HSE related topics including strategies for improvement to local and senior management.
▪ Lead and perform investigations and special projects as required by management team.
▪ Advise and set direction to clients of any changes in legislation which may impact the business.
▪ Timely reporting and investigation of HSE related incidents and audit findings and correct actions
▪ Added value to the business through implementing efficient, standardized systems and processes
▪ Maintain an SME relationship with the client and corporate HSE groups and statutory authorities as required
▪ Maintain communication with key client personnel, monitoring HSE and providing support, advice and expertise to operational teams at all levels
▪ Lead, develop and coordinate a global HSE community that contributes to the account
▪ Provide expertise in Health, Safety and Environment Business Risk and advice and consultancy for employees at client sites
▪ Perform Coordinate audits of HSE compliance for all IFM services which we provide to the client
▪ Deliver and coordinate training and engagement program in HSE topics to the wider operations team and third parties where necessary working with country HSE teams
▪ Formulate, implement, monitor and review HSE plans (including the setting of objectives, agreeing priorities and establishing adequate systems for performance management) to ensure implementation of legislative requirements and best practice
▪ Promote and develop a health and safety culture which secures effective implementation of policy, procedures, and responsibilities.

▪ Successful regulatory HSE audits across the regions.
▪ Timely reporting and investigation of health, safety & environmental related incidents, and audit findings.
▪ All audit actions to be managed to completion by agreed dates.

▪ Continuous development on technical and business skills and knowledge.
▪ Flexible to perform ad hoc assignments (special audit requests, due diligence etc.).
Person Specification
Essential
▪ An accomplished executive with over 8 year’s + HSE experience either on client or supply side demonstrating progressive leadership capabilities
▪ International and/or multi country/regional experience – management of complexities, divergent interests, cultured in different geographies
▪ Proficiency to drive HSE excellence across many countries, sites, and cultures
▪ Knowledgeable about Global HSE regulations, Laws, legislation, and trends.
▪ Certified Safety Professional, or other related HSE certifications are desirable.
▪ Leading large teams / Very good proven track record in people management and development
▪ Deep understanding of the different HS&E management systems available and required. Experience in assessing and implementing combinations of systems that best meet the business needs
▪ Understanding of the fast-changing environmental regulatory landscape and best ways to leverage external resources to ensure license-to-operate
▪ Thorough understanding of the key role of culture in safety excellence and how to mobilize business leadership to reach and sustain such a leading culture.
▪ Candidate should have a solid grounding and practical experience in working in the FMCG environment and facilities management areas.
▪ The candidate must also have a strong skill set to deliver tactical and strategic thinking in the application of HSE improvements.
▪ Reporting: Ability to write persuasive and effective reports and communications, which clearly define findings and their causes, and recommendations made.
▪ Analytical Skills: Must possess strong analytical skills. The ability to systematically gather information from a variety of sources, analyse information, identify implications of data, draw appropriate conclusions, generate viable alternative solutions to a question or problem, and evaluate the consequences of choosing each alternative.
▪ Operate at a level where strong strategic relationships are forged to drive value and innovation.

▪ As this role interacts with senior client representatives, and senior staff, excellent communications skills (verbal and written) are required, with an ability to recognise the values within different cultures and acknowledge different ways of working.
▪ Fluent English + other relevant major languages is an advantage.
