Salary: £18 per hour

Estimator – Private & Public Sectors – Refurbishment – North London/Essex
My client is a well established plc, who are actively seeking an Estimator to join their growing bid team, estimating projects up to £15M within their refurbishment work stream.
As Estimator, you will be working with a team of commercial, technical, operational, and external partners you will be responsible for the preparation and submission of tenders, under a variety of forms of procurement for projects up to £15m.
From receipt of initial enquiry documents you will form part of the Bid Team that ensures the right technical and commercial offer is brought together into a winning proposal within often tight deadlines.
The candidate must have previous experience in an estimating role within the construction sector.
Key Duties:
* Appraisal of tender documents.
* Preparation of material and sub-contract enquiries, including selection of prospective sub-contractors.
* Attending strategy/opportunity meetings with relevant stakeholders (internal & external)
* Track tender opportunities and manage own workload.
* Visit site to identify site-specific risks, where applicable.
* Preparing tender Bills of Quantities.
* Preparation of analytical cost estimates, including preliminaries.
* Prepare budgets and cost plans.
* Prepare tenders on 1st principles basis.
* Adjudication and comparison of sub-contractor quotations.
* Initiate technical queries and ensure design is sufficiently developed to ensure accurate costings.
* Preparation of Contractors Proposals with Business Development and Design Teams.
* In conjunction with Group Bid Manager, completion of tender documentation.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with all Stakeholders: Customers, Consultants, Supply Chain and Colleagues.
Salary & Package:
* Competitive base salary dependent upon relevant experience.
* 24 days holiday + 8 Bank Holidays
* 40-hour week. Monday – Friday, 8.00am to 5.00pm (-1hr lunch).
* Agile working arrangement (home/office).
* Working as part of a PLC – Share Incentive Plan/SAYE (subject to eligibility)
* Annual Pay Review – linked to formal appraisals, KPI’s/Objective led
* CPD – incl. relevant professional qualification or other training
Knowledge & Education:
* Competent use of Microsoft packages e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook (essential).
* All forms of contract including traditional, partnering, and Local Authority style frameworks (essential).
* Experience of using estimating software Evaluate (desirable).
* Knowledge of Building Regulations and other industry standards (essential).
