Engineering Shift Leaders (Critical Environments)

We are currently recruiting for 6 Engineering Shift Leaders from a critical background to join a leading FM company on a Tier 4 Data Centre in the Leicester area; Paying £45,000 plus overtime (£6 -7k), pension and holiday. If successful, you will lead the shift team’s critical engineering function, maintaining the critical services required for the on-going operation of the Data Centre.

Candidates must have experience working in Data Centre, hospital, pharmaceutical or automotive backgrounds. Please note; you must have extensive experience working in a 24/7/365 environment.

Role of the Engineering Shift Leader
As an Engineering Shift Leader, you will be responsible for the following;
*Supervising the Data Centre Shift Engineers operational and maintenance activities, to ensure work is executed in a safe and suitable manner,
*Supervising and directing Data Centre Shift Engineers to achieve best possible performance, utilising company HR policies and procedures as appropriate
*Directing the activities of the data centre shift engineers and Buildings Assistant to ensure timely completion of PPM’s and reactive work to SLA.
*Assisting with incident management and subsequent investigation to establish root cause.
*Overseeing the operation and maintenance of data centre critical service systems.
*Working with the Assistant Data centre Engineering Managers to ensure correct operation of the critical services of the Data Centres, through timely engagement of sub-contractors to execute identified works.
*Supervising staff, both in-house and external suppliers to deliver a highly focused client service.
*Identifying ways which the full range of maintenance services can be improved in ways which maximise value minimise cost, risk and downtime, whilst delivering the desired consistent quality of service. Then communicating identified opportunities to the DCEM
*Working closely with colleagues to deliver against SLA’s, improve customer solutions and deliver customer satisfaction.
* Work with the Data Centre Engineering Team to sustain a culture of continuous improvement.
*Ensuring the maintenance of accurate plant records, information and reporting systems. Also statutory compliance and audit ready at all times
*Managing shift manning levels to ensure establish manning levels are maintained 24 / 7 / 365.
*Working through and checking site team are fully trained and aware of S.O.P. escalation process
*Completing shift reports, energy monitoring reports, meter readings for every shift and sending to ADC

Essential Experience
As an Engineering Shift Leader, you must have the following experience;
*Has worked in a continuous improvement culture
*Thorough technical knowledge and experience in data centre critical services.
*A pro-active attitude, with experience of participating in managing change – process, people and operations.
*An experienced engineering supervisor with proven record of success in a 24 /7 /365 operating environment.
*Knowledge of the current legislation and mandatory standards relating to safe working practises.
*Technically qualified in appropriate engineering disciplines.
*Organisational and interpersonal skills.
*Relationship management skills and ability to manage through a team under direct line management and those non-directly managed.
