Employee Relations Advisor

Salary: £26,000 per year

Howdens Joinery are looking for an experienced Employee Relations Advisor or HR Generalist with extensive employee relations experience to join us on a 9-month fixed term contract working within our HR team based within our Raunds site in Northamptonshire. 

Working closely with the HR Advisor, you will need to have a proven track record in Employee Relations and case management, be an excellent communicator and have strong relationship building skills. 

What will I be doing as an Employee Relations Advisor?

– Ensure the delivery of an efficient ER advisory service through excellent standards of customer service and constructive, supportive, and accurate employment advice.
– Advise managers in relation to policy, HR best practice, legislation and consistency covering the full spectrum of people management issues, inclusive of complex employment law challenges with support from HR Advisor.
– Partnering with managers through coaching and mentoring.
– Respond to employee queries and concerns and escalating concerns appropriately.
– Manage and advise on a range of Employee Relations cases.
– Contribute towards and deliver training modules and workshops.

What skills and experience are needed?

– Strong demonstrable experience of Employee Relations and case management
– Demonstrable experience of short term and long-term absence management
– Sound knowledge and understanding of HR practice and employment law
– Excellent communication and influencing skills coupled with the ability to build and maintain good working relationships with all levels of the organisation.
– Sound IT skills with experience of using a HR and/or Payroll system and experience of using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and basic Excel.
– Ideally you will have achieved or be actively engaged with attaining a level 3 to 5 (or equivalent) HR qualification.
