Electrical Project Engineer

An Electrical Project Engineer is required to join an innovative Defence Systems company that specialises in advanced products primarily for the Military and Defence industry.

The Electrical Project Engineer will be responsible for supporting electrical system integration activities and be a member of a cross site highly adaptable team of engineers dealing with the needs of complete vehicle system and sub-system electronic and software architecture.

The Electrical Project Engineer will be a key member of a small team of engineers and will be responsible for supporting various engineering activities that cover the full product life cycle from initial concept generation through to engineering sign off and production support.

The Electrical Project Engineer will Report to the Engineering Manager.

Essential Requirements and Experience of the Electrical Project Engineer

– Development and documentation of System/Subsystem Designs
– Derive equipment specifications and interface specifications using DOORS requirements
– Undertake analysis of design changes to confirm feasibility and impacts on the system
– Informed implementation decisions and product selection
– Work with specialist and support engineering groups
– Accurate and timely reporting of progress and issues to Engineering management
– Oversee and contribute to integration and testing activities
– Prototype solutions to validate designs and ensure compliance with requirements

Skills and Experience Electrical Project Engineer

– Degree qualified in relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience
– Experience of engineering vehicle systems designs
– Contemporary knowledge of existing and emerging technologies of Vetronic systems
– Ability to liaise with and present information to multi-disciplined team members
– Ability to interpret vehicle system design requirements and propose design solutions
– Willing to travel within the UK and overseas
– Excellent presentation, verbal and written skills
– Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
– Proven track record of performing well under pressure
– Defence/aerospace industry background is high desirable
– Understanding of military EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) requirements
– Membership at CEng level of a UK Professional Registration institution such as IET or IMechE
