Salary: £26,000 – £26,400 per year
Our client in Uxbridge is seeking an Education Behaviour Support Assistant who will work closely with secondary phase students experiencing behavioural or attendance problems and those with social issues in home or family life. The role involves working alongside other staff, Governors, Parents, Access and Inclusion Team and the Safer Schools Officer.
The role is working 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 8.30am 4pm and the requirement would be for someone to commence work initially on a two term basis starting within 1 – 2 weeks.
Key responsibilities:
Motivating and providing support to students, in particular those identified as having behaviour or social and family difficulties
Supporting the Internal Exclusion System including the Educational Behaviour Support Officer
Maintaining accurate records of students and incidents that required intervention and mediation and updating key staff of this intervention.
Using data to identify potential issues and making it available to relevant agencies
Liaising with the intervention/support teams to work proactively to resolve behaviour issues
Provide objective and accurate feedback to the Educational Behaviour Support Officer/SaFE Worker on the conduct of the students
Keep appropriate records as agreed with the leadership
Deal promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encourage students to take responsibility for their own behaviour
Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience
Good level of English and communication skills
Training in relevant strategies e.g. Behaviour Management, Managing Conflict
Ability to calmly resolve emotional situations
Working with or caring for children of the relevant age in a learning environment
Ability to represent successful behaviour management strategies to key stake holders, the Local Authority, parents and other agencies
Ability to support others in the successful implementation of intervention strategies to manage the behaviour of students with behavioural and emotional difficulties, consistently and effectively
Appropriate ICT skills to support the ICT systems
Full working knowledge of relevant policies/codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation
