Distribution Manager

Salary: £33,600 – £42,000 per year

A skilled Distribution Manager to work within network department for a well known Haulier based in the Bathgate area. This role will suit someone who has previous experience of working within a pallet network business, can deal with a large volume of calls and messages and understands the importance of collaborative working.

This role will only suit someone who has excellent local geographical knowledge and understands vehicle routing and vehicle earnings. The successful applicant will enjoy a great starting salary and a progressive career.

Responsibilities:

Route planning and scheduling each night of the following days deliveries

*

Plan vehicles routes efficiently with vehicle sizes and weights in mind

*

Plan local collections daily

*

Keeping up to date with transport issues and dealing with changes to the days schedules

*

Full understanding of current commercial vehicle legislation

*

Have worked in Logistics & planning previously, or a minimum of 2 years in a similar role

Skills Required:

Have ability to think laterally and be a creative problem solver

Be accurate in paperwork and follow procedures and process methodically in a proactive and busy office

*

Computer literate with strong knowledge of MS Office

*

An effective communicator

A positive attitude towards customer service and continuous improvement

Ability to question, challenge and improve upon existing processes

Strong Interpersonal and people management skills

Resilience with an ability to keep calm under pressure and continue to follow the correct processes even under challenging circumstances

Experience within a multi drop, general haulage or pallet network environment

Have the ability to keep up with a changing load plan and make quick decisions as and when changes are required – Essential

*

Excellent decision making skills, a high level of initiative and able to prioritise and problem solve

*

A good ability to learn new IT Platforms and operate across various software
