Salary: £120,000 per year

DevOps Engineer – Brighton and Remote working – £120,000 salary (£100k Package)

My client are a leading eCommerce marketplace platform company who have their European Headquarters in Central Brighton. They are looking for 2 DevOps Engineers to join their team of 300 people working remotely with a day a week in the Brighton office.

They are looking for 2 x Mid or Senior DevOps Engineers paying up to £90k salaries due to continued growth of their DevOps team.

The Role:

Part of the Product & Engineering function, the DevOps Engineering team is responsible for delivering features to the business safer and sooner. This team use cutting edge techniques and technologies to automate previously manual processes. They use delivery and monitoring pipelines to maintain a self-healing system that can respond to incidents without bothering humans. They tie technology decisions directly to key goals for the business. This team are keen to hire DevOps Engineers who enjoy an Infrastructure as Code approach to their work.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment
  • This team maintains all of the test and delivery pipelines that run their automated test suites, build deployable packages of the software, and eventually deploy that software without human interaction. This includes their service which connects Github + Cloudbuild and manages their deployment environments.
  • Quality Assurance and Test Automation
  • They maintain the functional tests that run browser based-interaction to simulate a user interacting with our applications to check our code is working as expected.
  • Service Level Objective reporting and compliance
  • They maintain all of the monitoring and alerting that ensures our services are meeting key business objectives. We build manual processes and automated responses to these alerts.
  • Virtual server infrastructure resource management and maintenance
  • They maintain the automation that describes the state of our static infrastructure and deploy changes / patch their servers.

Skills:

You’d make a great start in the role if you have knowledge of the following:

  • An understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle
  • Experience programming and/or writing scripts, self-taught or otherwise
  • Experience with cloud based infrastructure, Kubernetes etc.
  • Strong understanding of computer networking
  • Experience running Linux in a containerised environment and an understanding of containerisation
  • Able to work to a high standard in an autonomous manner, whilst also contributing to success of the entire team
  • Knowledge of the CI/CD processes and experience of using CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, GoCD etc)
