Desktop Engineer (IT Infrastructure): Workington, Cumbria
MacArthur Recruitment is working for a UK-based engineering manufacturing organisation, which is seeking a Desktop Engineer (IT Infrastructure) to work closely with the technical team and your colleagues to deliver mostly Desktop but also including 1st, 2nd and 3rd Line support. The role is based on site at our clients premises.

Security and compliance are a strong focus along with sound desktop skills. The role will cover everything from 1st, 2nd to 3rd line support and some server, networking, etc. although the day-to-day tasks are more Desktop. Further training provided. This is an opportunity for you to develop your skills and career.

Responsibilities of the Desktop Engineer (IT Infrastructure):

* Desktop focussed and covering 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support along with occasional server build, cabling and other peripherals

* Point of contact for all day to day IT fault support calls, IT work requests and project work, including servers, networks, client workstations and laptops.

* Proactively handle and escalate virus outbreaks and cyber threats.

* Proactively identify and address any vulnerabilities across the IT estate.

* Implement measures to mitigate against any risks identified that would pose a threat to the business, IP, data or assets.

* Perform system builds, installations and upgrades for existing and new users and systems across all estates, covering servers, workstations and laptops.

* Carry out software updates and maintain compliance.

* Provide technical support for specialised and bespoke hardware and software system configurations on the workshop.

* Provide technical support for specialised hardware and software systems configurations eg CAD, design and drawing packages.

* Making network ports live, connectivity and general housekeeping

* Liaise with third party corporate IT Service Providers to ensure a holistic and collaborative approach to service delivery.

* Ensure all (IP)CCTV systems are fully operational and remain compliant.

* Liaise with suppliers for the purchase of equipment, consumables and services.

* Responsible for the printer and plotter estate.

Your background for the Desktop Engineer (IT Infrastructure):

* Sound desktop experience

* Ideally some of 3rd line, server build, cabling, Active Directory, PC build, networks. You can learn on the job / training however

* Follow processes

* Enjoy working with people

* Solution minded

* Cyber management would be a bonus – further training provided

* ITIL Certification / experience – further training given

* Effective use of a call logging system.
