Design Manager

Salary: £54,000 – £84,000 per year

We are currently resourcing for an experienced Design Manager to work for a London based construction main contractor. The company has enjoyed consistent growth over the last 5 years, which has resulted in them being included in the Sunday Times Fast Track Top 100 Companies in the country and they still have exciting expansion plans for the future. They have recently won a number of new schemes and have a number of D&B tenders totalling £80m in value. The contractor predominately specialise in design and build and refurbishment schemes which are either public or privately funded.

The Design Manager’s main function will be to co-ordinate / manage the design activity within the procedures required by our client, to ensure that the Design complies with the Contract Documents, current legislation (Building Regulations etc) and align with the Contractors Proposals and Commercial Plan. The Design Manager will be responsible for the management of the external consultants to ensure that design freeze and sign off is achieved to comply with the Contract programme. The Design Manager’s role is to support and be a member of the site contract team, as well as working alongside the estimating team on formulating successful tenders. The Design Manager will mainly be involved with Design and Build contracts, the building works range from mix use developments, education projects and leisure complexes.

The successful Design Manager will ideally come from an engineering or architectural background, with experience of working for a main contractor. Must have a good ‘eye’ for detail and possibly previous experience in a design coordination role.
