Design Engineer

We require a design engineer to work within a team of engineers. This role requires the ability to interpret design specifications into final design proposals for verification by others, designing products foe use within heavy engineering

The role requires projects to be managed within defined timescales resulting in the production of 2D and 3D design drawings so candidates must have Autocad and Solidworks experience

Key Roles and Responsibilities

• Production of design proposals to specifications;
• Production of working drawings through 2D and 3D design packages;
• Management of projects allocated by management team;
• Compilation of Operator Manuals;
• Specifying of components needed in design;
• Responsible for maintaining hard copies of drawings to correct revision levels;
• Undertake designer’s risk assessments.

Experience and Qualifications Needed

Minimum

• Extensive design & draughting experience;
• Experience of 2D and 3D CAD packages;
• IT literate, e.g., Excel, Word etc.;
• Good written and face-to-face communication skills with customers and other members of the Team;
• Mechanical engineering qualification, e.g., ONC, City & Guilds;
• UK driving licence.

Desirable

• Solidworks 3D CAD experience;
• Electrical and hydraulic systems knowledge;
• Instrumentation and control systems knowledge;
• Ability to undertake basic engineering calculations;
• HNC or HND in Mechanical Engineering

Skills Required
