Salary: £36,000 – £42,000 per year
Our client, a family-run business with over 25 years of experience in furniture manufacturing, is looking to recruit a Department Manager to manage and continuously improve the manufacturing operations at their factory in Nottingham.
Role Purpose:
Provide effective leadership of direct reports and the whole team by setting direction, increasing motivation levels and carrying out recruitment, induction, training and development as required to create an operational environment that promotes teamwork, encourages excellence and continuous improvement, is customer focused and delivers results.
Manage and motivate a team of operatives in accordance with the key performance indicators set by the business, to ensure their area is operating to the highest standards in line with business goals and objectives. Delivering daily production in a safe, high quality and efficient manner through a highly motivated team.
Accountabilities:
Provide effective communication of performance feedback and instruction to enable a clear understanding of individual and team goals.
Direct the team to establish safe methods of work and maintain a high standard of housekeeping.
Challenge individual and team performance to advance both to their optimum levels.
Identify needs and develop team skills to the required levels of multi-skilling and delegating the skills to meet the budgeted requirements of the business.
Encourage and support individuals within team to participate and contribute to the continuous development of the department.
Achieve operational responsiveness to attain company on time in full (OTIF) objectives.
Serve as an interface between departments within the organisation to exchange information in the interest of advancing company
Manage direct reports, by communicating direction, increasing motivation levels and carrying out recruitment, induction, training and development as required.
Meet Monarchs health and safety requirements as specified in the Health & Safety policy.
To be considered for this role, you should have the following skills and experience:
Operating in a business with huge peaks and troughs
Being active part of a major change process
Writing SOPs, Pre start check sheets, Quality systems
Developing teams from scratch using existing workforce
Working within a family business
Establishing a disciplined culture
Managing multi ethnicity workforces
Hands on creation/implementation of Short Interval Control
Being part of a very small management team
Conducting internal audits quality and safety
Hands on implementation of business systems eg SAP,SAGE,NAV
Prepared to undertake any task until effective team in place
Genuine motivator of people
Genuinely prepared to do 6/7 days weeks in peak season
