The Control & Instrumentation Technician will work closely with the Engineering Manager to become part of a proactive, strong, knowledgeable team to run and maintain the production line to a high level of efficiency.

Responsible for:

• Diagnosing faults, repairing and maintaining production control equipment, compromising mini and microcomputer systems, PLC’s, peripheral and interface equipment and controlling, recording and indicating instrumentation.
• Assisting in the installation and commissioning of new of replacement control systems and equipment.
• Testing and maintain spare parts in good working order and to report any usage or outages for reordering.
• Assisting in the training and development of less experienced technicians and apprentices.
• Utilising planned downtime effectively to achieve Maintenance daily tasks and Equipment Improvements.
• Conducting, leading and developing troubleshooting, maintenance and CI activities.
• Delivering against all Business Work Instructions, policies and procedures.
• Ensuring Quality and Health and Safety KPI targets are consistently achieved as a minimum.
• Demonstrating a High-level commitment to achieve MPP Objectives

To be successful you will ideally have:

• Experience in carrying out routine maintenance and fault diagnosis/repair of electrical and instrument systems within production manufacturing or packing areas
• Experience in conducting routine maintenance and calibration of some control systems will be part of area of responsibility – control loops, typically involving pressure, weight, level, temperature and flow.
• Experience in Fault diagnosis (including root cause analysis) and repair of instrument and electrical systems involving, control loops, PLC, motor control, variable speed drives, pneumatic on/off, control valves and online vision systems.
• Experience in planning and resourcing, including sourcing of materials & spare parts, supervising general & contractors and supporting the implementation of minor plant improvements.
• Knowledge and training in HPLC, GC’s, Autoclaves, stability cabinets, fume cupboards, Calibration, scales etc.
• A NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) apprenticeship qualification in electrical and electronic engineering
