Contract Mechanical Design Draftsman

Title: Mechanical Design Draftsman
Salary: Between £24and £25 per hour.

Due to recent expansion my client, a leading mechanical handling company in South Yorkshire now requires a Contract Mechanical Design Draughtsman to join their rapidly growing team.
With an impressive portfolio of high profile projects across the United Kingdom from working on sporting arenas to bespoke access to one of the Nation’s most well-known buildings, their name is recognisable in their industry for the quality of work they can deliver.

As a Mechanical Design Draughtsman reporting to the Senior Design Engineer you will be responsible for all technical aspects of the part of the project assigned to you, attending design review meetings with the design engineer and potentially being present at ‘kick-off’ meetings.
Ensuring all documentation relevant to the project design is filed electronically, you will complete a technical file for the project at the beginning of the process, this technical file must comply with CE and CDM requirements and include records of all Design Risk Assessments, design calculations, specifications of proprietary equipment, welding procedures, material specifications and confirmation that designs comply with relevant standards.
Health and safety objectives must be satisfied at all times whether activities are taking place in the office, workshop or onsite.
Specific standards include HSAWA 1974, LOLER 1998, PUWER 1998, CE Marking Directive 1998, CDM Regs. 2007, Manual Handling Regs. 1992.

The ideal candidate will have experience as a Design Draftsman, preferably in the Materials Handling industry although this is not essential.
There is a consideration for this role to become “temp to perm”.
