SC Education Recruitment is currently looking to recruit for a full time permanent caretaker to start as soon as possible. The role is in a specialist provision in the Wakefield area.

The role:

• To ensure all equipment and materials are used in accordance with health safety guidelines
• To respond effectively to all urgent maintenance and repair needs as and when they arise
• To ensure an effective cleaning service is undertaken, advising the appropriate line manager of any issues
• To undertake general repairs and maintenance around the site(s), inside and out, including plastering, basic joinery, decorating, repairs on furnishing and buildings, including woodwork, and gardening
• To ensure a safe and well cared for environment is maintained
• To maintain the security of the site including the opening and closing of the premises in line with agreed opening and closing procedures. Share locking and unlocking procedures with identified staff. Be a named key holder for emergency call outs and to liaise with the alarm company as and when required
• To place orders in accordance with accepted procedures including arranging delivery of materials for key maintenance tasks
• To be part of the health & safety committee and be willing to undertake and maintain the IOSH qualification and any other training provided the provision
• To be a key member of the emergency and fire marshal group undertaking training as and when required
• To manage and maintain the tools, equipment, and vehicles reporting any repairs to the appropriate line manager
• To undertake regular periodic checks including visual checks, weekly fire alarm call point tests, water temperature tests, first aid box checks, emergency lighting tests, fire door checks, operation of fire exits, fire extinguisher tests, ladder checks, equipment condition checks

The successful candidate will have:

• Experience as a caretaker/or similar role
