Join a well-established but rapidly growing engineering business in Egham as Electrical Buyer, as they embark on a project to realign purchasing in order to make it more efficient.

As Buyer, you will be establishing the purchasing and procurement function for all electrical and electronic production components, making full use of the in-house reporting system and standardising the purchasing process. The buyer will negotiate and place purchase orders for all electrical components and consumables in line with production and business requirements.

You will also take control of purchasing for electronic control system, liaising with design, production and manufacturing departments to ensure all transactions are recorded and processed efficiently, managing work flow from project design to delivery to ensure sufficient availability of required components.

The buyer will also expedite orders in accordance with purchase order requirements, work with suppliers to communicate and improve deliveries, review and develop existing suppliers and negotiate contracts with new suppliers.

You will also provide general administrative support to the Purchasing function.

The ideal person with the role of buyer will have a demonstrable background of purchasing in a manufacturing environment, ideally of electrical or electronic components. You will be experienced in professional procurement techniques (MCIPS an advantage) and have strong negotiation and excellent communication skills. The buyer aslo needs an good understanding of inventory management (parts lists) processes and practice and a high level of IT literacy.

A self-managed person with good personal organisational and motivational ability, excellent communication skills. and the ability to interface at all levels with internal contacts as well as customers and suppliers, will make the perfect candidate for this buyer role.
