The Opportunity
My client is a global, multibillion corporation operating as the pioneers of their market, boasting a large market share. A Buyer is required for their UK site based in Bardon to be responsible for Indirect Spend. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a forward thinking and progressive business who boasts low staff attrition, high employee engagement and development.
The Role
Responsible for improving existing contractual, pricing and service level agreements with Indirect suppliers as necessary to meet the Groups’ requirements across all Group sites. The aim is to succeed in delivering measurable savings through the application of professional Purchasing methods and delivering added value through fostering constructive relationships whereby suppliers are engaged in delivering benefits that meet the aims of the Group’s strategy for profit and growth.
The jobholder will work to be recognised internally as the “go-to” person for all Indirect purchasing opportunities within the Group. They will monitor and report upon contract delivery and guide stakeholders in the on-going commercial management of awarded contracts.
You will assume responsibility for all indirect purchasing within the UK sites. A summarised job description is detailed below
• Achieve agreed cost reduction targets by category and report monthly on delivered results.
• Report monthly data identifying cost savings delivered for inclusion in Group Board Report.
• Be proficient at extracting data from Avanté (MIS software) to support cost saving claims and ensure full information is available on the expenditure in the categories for which the role is responsible.
• Maintain relevant data on suitable suppliers for the key categories being managed.
• Work with stakeholders to define and simply document measureable specifications prior to commencing the sourcing process for any service/product being purchased. Ensure that this includes agreed service level expectations for individual site.
• Provide all necessary Purchasing support from the definition of the appropriate buying process through to final contract hand-over to “contract owners” to action day-to-day performance of the contract.
• Ensure that pre-supply administrative tasks are completed prior to commencement of contract and communicate the new details to the necessary departmental teams.
• Set up systems that monitor the supplier performance of contracts to ensure that cost/service expectations agreed when awarding the contract are being delivered.
• Assist the identification and managed implementation of initiatives to improve performance and/or reduce cost-in-use of the items or services purchased.
• Develop and maintain professional supplier relationships that will help to improve mutual understanding and increase the opportunities to extract added value from the suppliers.
• Maintain positive relationships with colleagues and suppliers at all times.
The Candidate
Essentially, we are looking for an experienced Buyer who can demonstrate the ability to operate on their own and as part of a team. You must be IT literate with a strong commercial acumen. CIPS qualification or studying towards is advantageous however experience is key.
Required is also somebody who is available at short notice and can satisfy this urgent need with able to commence the role asap.
