Salary: £42,000 – £56,400 per year

Our client is a leading national social housing repair and maintenance contractor.
Due to ongoing growth they are keen to employ 2 experienced Bid Managers (Bid Writer) that have solid experience (3-5 years) working within the social housing repairs sector, producing winning bids securing long term contracts.

1.Analysis of Tender document and client requirements to inform bid response.
Project management of the bid process – kick off meeting, review, final sign off.
Preparation of partnering proposals and submissions to clients to secure business for the company.
Communication, liaison and management of the wider bid team, ensuring solutions agreed and responses progressed to final draft in a timely manner to tight deadlines
Regular liaison with the client during the bidding process to ensure clarity and consistency of communications and the speedy resolution of any issues pertaining to the tender, thus ensuring a strong working partnership.
Co-ordinating teams of people from other departments in the company to contribute to the bid process.
Developing the company’s partnering strategies and tender submissions by utilising knowledge of the latest developments and practices employed by social housing landlords.
Forging links with the local community during the bid process. This will include training colleges and local businesses.
KEY TASKS
1: PREPARATION OF BIDS
To manage and deliver bid submissions as identified by the Group Business Development Director.
•To implement the strategy for the management of bid submissions, ensuring excellence in quality and response on all pre-quals and bid submissions.
•Engagement with the local community during the bid process. This will involve liaison with local colleges and social enterprises.
•Agreeing the operational and supply chain solution with the Regional Managing Director or their delegated manager.
• Incorporate responses to any latest policy and strategy for the Social Housing sector within the company’s bid.

CLIENT RELATIONS
•To liaise with clients during the bidding process and representing the company to build good working relationships with them during this critical period.
•Ensure the company has excellent client intelligence to enable a leading bid to be prepared that offers a solution that addresses the client’s issues and expectations. If this information is not available from the issued tender documents, you will be expected to ask the appropriate questions of the client in a partnering approach.
•Resolve inconsistencies and gaps in the tender documentation through good liaison with the client.

CO-ORDINATION OF TEAMS
•Engage teams of people from other departments in the company to contribute to the bid. You should be able to inspire and manage these teams to achieve a ‘Best-in-Breed’ solution for the bid.
•Build effective working relationships with people from other departments in the company.
•Preparation of bid programme/timetable so that all contributing team members are aware of their responsibilities and time constraints.
•Arrange appropriate bid reviews and sign-offs in accordance with company procedure.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential: Experience of managing and writing bids in a company providing services to the public and private sectors.
Excellent communication skills
Competent IT skills – MS Office suite
Ability to service several clients with different needs
Experience of delivering ‘best in the market’ sales experience
of producing winning proposals that score top marks for quality
Proven delivery of innovative solutions
Initiative, confidence, positive ‘can do’ attitude, decisiveness, enthusiasm, reliability, patience, tact, approachability, willingness to develop self and others, committed, trustworthy, with a good sense of humour.
Essential: Driving Licence

Must Have: Social Housing background
Experience of working both in the public and private sectors

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Knowledge Current knowledge of a recognised bid management process

Qualifications:
Minimum of HNC/HND level qualification.
Educated to GCSE (Or equivalent) level in English and Maths.
Bid management related courses, such as ‘Shipley’ or similar, would be advantageous.
Experience
Extensive experience of bid preparation and management essential. You will have experience of leading and preparing bids in your own right. You will need experience of bids in the value range of £0.5 Million to £20 Million per annum.
