This is a fantastic opportunity to join an independent, growing company, operating within the retail sector. They are currently looking to recruit an Assistant Store Manager to join the team in the 23,000 sq. ft. Country Store, which offers full ranges of agricultural feeds and machinery, power tools, work-wear, garden machinery, agricultural toys, ride on tractors, including equestrian, shooting and fishing departments.

The ideal candidate must have a strong passion for agriculture and country way of life, be hands-on and hardworking, and possess strong knowledge and experience of the product lines. Alongside this they are looking for strong and proven retail and management experience, good commercial awareness with the ability to inspire and lead a team and drive sales.

Responsibilities:

– In the absence of the Store Manager be fully accountable for the running and safeguarding of the store.
– Working with the Store Manager manage any applicable Staff Management in-house.
– Lead by example and coach the wider store team enabling them to reach their maximum potential.
– Assist the Manager in leading, motivating and taking responsibility for the wider store; both in terms of the team and sales.
– Establish a good working relationship with the Store Manager; working together in driving the store standards, company procedures and team management.
– Give regular feedback to the Store Manager regarding any areas of concern and suggested actions, any “hand-over” notes, with new ideas and proactive suggestions for improvement.
– Provide excellent customer service, and drive the customer service agenda, by being friendly, approachable and ready to help and train the team.
– Continuously look to improve the store standards and ensure it meets corporate standards.
– To develop and maintain high levels of product knowledge within both your designated department and the wider store, passing this on to Sales Assistants/Management/Buyers as required.
– Ensure full stock availability and effective management of stock.
– Assist in the organisation and monitoring of all employee breaks, holidays etc.
