Assistant Educational Psychologist

Kisimul School is recruiting for an Assistant Educational Psychologist to join our Educational Psychology team. The post is based in our school at Woodstock House in Long Ditton, near Surbiton, Surrey.

This is a full-time role, working 38 hours per week, Monday–Friday, with 40 days annual leave.

About The Job:
Reporting to the Head Teacher, the Assistant Educational Psychologist is responsible for observing and analysing behaviour and implementing behaviour management strategies. You will also assist in the administration of formal and informal cognitive assessments to determine each pupil’s strengths, weaknesses and learning style, supervised by the Educational Psychologist.

Key Responsibilities:
• Carry out informal and formal observations/assessments to address sensory and behavioural issues.
• Use behavioural analysis to inform behaviour support programmes in the school and residential settings.
• Produce Behavioural Referral Reports for internal and external agencies.
• Support and liaise with staff regarding behaviour management strategies.
• Contribute to a behaviour monitoring programme that provides data on frequencies of behaviours, cues/triggers to challenging behaviour displayed and successful/unsuccessful behaviour management strategies.
• Interpret data collected under the supervision of the Educational Psychologist and encapsulate this information in written reports to be submitted for the pupils’ Annual Review of the Statement.
• Undertake observations and informal/formal assessments to ascertain the pupils’ cognitive abilities. Administer, score and interpret various psychological tests under the supervision of the Educational Psychologist and communicate recommendations to other professionals.
• Interpret results of psychological evaluations and observations under the supervision of the Educational Psychologist and encapsulate these in written reports to be submitted for the pupils’ annual educational review.
• Monitor cognitive performance and progress.
Experience Skills & Qualifications
• Degree in Psychology, either single or joint honours.
• Knowledge of and experience in working with children and young people with learning difficulties ASD and challenging behaviour.
• Knowledge of child development theories.
• An understanding of psychology applied to a learning disability context.
• Knowledge of methods of collecting and analysing data
• Ability to interact with young people with severe learning disabilities.
• Ability to work to deadlines, a high standard of report writing and competent using computers and Microsoft Office package
• Ability to communicate effectively

Remuneration Package
The successful applicant will be offered a remuneration package that will consist of a Salary: £26,000.20 (£26,000 per year) as well as comprehensive training and other company benefits such as: Pension, Life Assurance, Child Care Voucher Scheme and not to forget our stunning work locations.
