Hcpc Registered Educational Psychologist

My Client based in East London is looking for a HPC registered Educational Psychologist to work within their local government

The below is an overview of the work description

You will:
* Prepare children for transition and provide essential support to their families
* Carry out initial assessments with families jointly with colleagues in the Psychology and Family Therapy team
* Offer an advice and advocacy service to guide them through the necessary processes
* Highlight potential difficulties and identify strategies to address them
* Negotiate with schools and Local Authority Special Education Needs departments
* Work closely with the Local Authority Educational Psychologist so that they are fully briefed and that the handover is smooth

Person Specification
Essential:
* Thorough knowledge and understanding of UK legislation and statutory processes relating to children’s services, education and SEN, and current trends in local authority management of SEN.
* Up to date knowledge of developments in:
– Educational Psychology and
* Be responsible for own professional development undertaking training as appropriate
* Good interpersonal skills, ability to communicate across professions and agencies
* Self-motivated
* Ability to work independently and within a team
* Good organisational skills
* The ability to support families through the educational process and to provide emotional support
* Experience working as an Educational Psychologist in local authorities
* Extensive experience of providing specialist advice and support to schools and local authorities, and SEN decision making
