We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Educational Psychologist to join our Behavioural Change and Support Services Unit (BCSSU)

Our BCSSU delivers evidence-based and innovative interventions and services to individuals who, due to multiple or complex needs, require specialist behaviour change treatment or holistic support. Our work within the criminal justice sector is not restricted to those who have a conviction, and our interventions take place remotely, in the community and in custodial settings.

You’ll be familiar with systemic ideas, consultation models and have a sound grasp of psychological ideas to do with attachment, learning and behaviour.  You’ll support in helping young people and families overcome various challenges that may affect their learning, development, and well-being, such as learning difficulties, social and emotional problems, disability, and developmental disorders.

Our successful candidate will need to be a registered clinician with an associated and relevant professional body (e.g., British Psychological Society) and ideally have experience within the justice sector. This is an excellent opportunity to promote positive change, the protection of victims and children, plus the development of pro-social behaviour through a multi-agency approach.

In return for your dedication, knowledge, and commitment, we’re offering a competitive salary of £42,930 – £47,000 per annum (dependent on experience) with these great benefits:

Key Responsibilities

•   To work with and engage facilitating colleagues in supporting positive change.
•    Ability to work efficiently and effectively, to meet contractual requirements, within timescales and resource. •
•    Excellent verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills, including and the ability to relate to people at all levels and in a variety of settings.
•    Proficiency to seek out solutions to problems
•    Being able to work independently and remotely or as part of a cohesive team, working towards defined outcomes whilst supporting others and drawing on the strengths of each individual team member.
•    High level of initiative and motivation
•    Capability to make clear, accurate decisions, assessments, and judgements, based on sound risk management.
•    Ability to research, analyse and interpret data
•    Willingness to travel for core delivery and internal and external meetings, participant outreach and if necessary, acting up for senior colleagues

Skills and Experience

Essential Criteria

•    Knowledge of working in the education sector
•    Experience of working with harmful behaviour
•    Good understanding of behavioural change models and desistance approaches to reducing re-offending
•    Experience of supporting colleague development
•    Fully IT literate in using a range of Microsoft Office programmes and digital technologies, e.g., Microsoft Teams
•    Qualified and registered clinician with an associated and relevant professional body e.g., BPS
•    Good understanding of special educational needs

Essential experience in two or more of the following: 

•    Review and support of colleague delivering behaviour change interventions to young people.
•    Delivery of individual interventions/services to support positive change and reduce reoffending.
•    Knowledge of the supportive and rehabilitative service provides to support holistic solutions.
•    Provision of consultancy to colleagues
•    Provision of complex assessments
•    Working in multi-agency framework
•    Experience of quality assurance oversight
