Assistant Accountant

Salary: £36,000 per year

We’re currently recruiting an Assistant Accountant on behalf of a distributor that are a subsidiary of a larger international group.

The successful candidate will report to the Finance Director and will liaise on a day to day basis with the Management Accountant. This is an interesting and varied role and presents a wonderful opportunity to join an enterprising and cohesive team. It would be advantageous if candidates have had previous exposure to a corporate environment (global company or brand) but flexibility and adaptability are key to being successful in this role. You may not have completed all aspects of the role, but full training will be provided. Please note that this is an office-based position.

Duties and responsibilities:

• CAPEX and depreciation
• Bank reconciliations & intercompany reconciliations
• Posting of general ledger transactions
• Journals
• General ledger account reconciliations / reports
• P&L analysis
• VAT returns
• Administration of the company vehicles (insurance, tax, services etc)
• Processing of non-stock invoices
• Provision of cover for Credit Control and Purchase Ledger when required
• Ad-hoc assistance to Finance Director and Management Accountant when required

Skills and experience required:

• Sound working knowledge of accounting principles (double entry bookkeeping)
• Studying AAT desirable but QBE will be considered
• Experience of accountancy software (SAP desirable but not essential) and good working knowledge of Excel
• An approachable and engaging communicator
• Helpful team member, happy to provide support to colleagues in other areas where required

Hours of work:

• Monday to Thursday, 8.30am – 5.00pm / Fri 8.30 – 2pm- (½ hour lunch break) – 37.5 hours per week

• Circa £36,000dependent upon experience
