Growing rapidly through organic sales and acquisition of new businesses, Jonas Group UK are seeking an exceptional Transactional Accounts Assistant to thrive and grow in a high paced and dynamic environment.

This position is based in Wallingford (OX10 9BT), and is within easy reach of Reading and Oxford.

POSITION

Reporting to the Divisional Finance Manager and as a key member of the financial reporting team, the Assistant Accountant plays a pivotal role in supporting the management accounts team, the wider finance team and the Jonas Group UK wider business.

The Assistant Accountant will be responsible for the delivery of accounting information within a high performance culture. Therefore, the role will suit someone who thrives in a rapidly growing organisation with the changes and challenges this brings.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a multi-faceted role where the post holder will be expected (but is not limited) to:

  • Assist monthly management accounts preparation
  • Monthly analysis and reconciliation of revenue
  • Post accruals & prepayments
  • Preparation of the Accounts reports for review
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Payroll journals and other journal posting
  • Year-end reports for audit purposes
  • Reports on debtors and creditors including bad debt provisions
  • Quarterly VAT return preparation
  • Reconcile sub-ledgers to control accounts and ensure the necessary actions take place to resolve
  • Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations
  • Support projects to drive process improvements

SKILLS and EXPERIENCE

Typical qualities of a successful Assistant Accountant include:

  • Demonstrable evidence of advanced Excel knowledge and skills.
  • Proactive individual focused on system and reporting improvements.
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills – capable of dealing with multiple businesses and deadline.
  • Experience in preparation of balance sheet accounts and reconciliations.
  • Good at problem-solving.
  • A stickler for deadlines.
  • Sharp IT skills.
  • Honest and trustworthy.
  • Confident, positive, focused and self-motivated.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have at least 2 years relevant experience.
  • CIMA/ACCA/ACA part qualified or finalist.
  • Strong commercial acumen and financial analysis skills.
  • Experience of Microsoft Great Plains software would be an advantage, as would experience in the Software or IT industry.
