Salary: £30,000 – £34,800 per year
SITA UK is looking to recruit an Area Supervisor to join our Processing team in Devon looking after HWRC Sites around the South Devon area.
Reporting to the Senior Site Manager, the Area Supervisor will be responsible for supporting and supervising recycling centres within their area, ensuring compliance on all relevant standards of the site and to ensure the efficient deployment of staff and resources including the resale activities.
Key responsibilities of the role include providing excellent customer service and dealing with complaints which relates to the sites and handling them in an applicable timescale. Ensuring the sites are manned efficiently and correctly and ensuring the working hours are managed, ensuring information is provided to payroll to ensure that staff are paid correctly. Further responsibility is maintaining budgetary control over operations, ordering equipment and resources as necessary for sites. You will be the main COTC holder to the sites in your area and as such you have responsibility to ensure that the site is operated in accordance with the permit or licence. This role is also expected to ensure that all records on sites are updated which include training records, risk assessments are kept in accordance with polices and procedures and legislation.
Qualifications and experience
Applicants must be able to demonstrate a passion for recycling coupled with communication and computer skills. Working as part of a team the successful candidate must have a qualification in COTC Level 4 Hazardous Waste (Transfer), working towards it or be fully committed to achieving the qualification within 6 months. A good understanding of H&S requirements in the workplace along with the ability to produce RA’s and SWP’s. The successful candidate must be able to work to deadlines and be proactive in there approach to the day to day requirements of the role.
Experience of working in the waste industry is desirable but not essential.
Experience of working in a supervisory position is essential.
